Watch! Touching moment 92-year-old man sings to dying wife

THE touching moment where a man sang lovingly to his wife of 73 years in her final days was captured by the couple’s granddaughter.

Erin Solari shared a video online of her grandfather Howard, 92, singing a love song to his dying wife Laura, 93, and standing by her bedside, despite being wheelchair-bound.

The heart-warming moment was filmed at the hospice facility where Laura – who is blind - was spending her final days and Howard is shown singing to her the song that comforted her when he went away to fight in World War II.

“At family gatherings, it was not uncommon for the two of them to sing this song together, each taking a verse and serenading the other,” Erin said. “In fact, after fifty years of marriage, they renewed their vows and performed this song as a duet for the entire family at the reception.

“Sadly, Grandma is now too weak to sing, but that doesn't stop her from saying the words to him. Howard then takes over for her and sings the rest of the song to her while stroking her face.”

The video shows the tender interaction between the couple to the backdrop of American-Irish singer Rosemary Clooney’s You’ll Never Know.

“Our family prefers this version because everyone always said Grandma had a voice just like Rosemary Clooney,” Erin added.

Erin’s cousin Serena, who is a physical therapist, helped Howard to his feet and held him throughout the entire song, so that Laura could hold him.

She also described how her grandfather had lost most of his hearing, requiring the grandchildren in the room to repeat things for him as their grandmother is to weak to raise her voice.

Erin posted the video on Facebook and has received tens of thousands of 'likes' and positive comments from people touched by their story.
