WATCH: Ireland international Megan Campbell's huge throw-in is an online hit

IRELAND Women’s international Megan Campbell has made a name for herself after unleashing her remarkably long throw-ins upon the USA at the weekend.

The Irish may have lost 5-0 to the World No.1 ranked team in San Diego, but Campbell gave them something to think about whenever the visitors got a throw-in.

Her technique, which is reminiscent to that of former Ireland international Rory Delap, created a handful of goalscoring opportunities for her country, although USA were otherwise comfortable.

Delap was renowned for possessing a throw which could peak at 40 metres, earning him the nickname the ‘Human Sling’ and forcing opponents to defend his throw-ins much like a corner.

Four of USA’s goals came in the first half with FIFA World Player of the Year Carli Lloyd claiming a hat-trick inside the first 28 minutes while Alex Morgan, making her 100th appearance for the USA, got the fourth on the stroke of half-time.

Ireland played much better in the second-half and created several opportunities, largely thanks to Campbell's unique talent. Take a look for yourself.

However, the USA got the second-half’s only goal when debutant Mallory Pugh headed home from close range seven minutes from time.

The game at the Qualcomm Stadium was played out in front of an impressive crowd of 23,309.
