VIDEO: Roy Keane claims Manchester United players are 'not good enough'

REPUBLIC of Ireland assistant manager Roy Keane believes Manchester United’s current crop of players are “not good enough” for the club following their early exit from the Champions League.

The former United captain was speaking in his punditry role for ITV in the wake of Wolfsburg’s 3-2 win over the Premier League side on Tuesday night, a defeat which saw them drop into the unfamiliar territory of the Europa League.

Keane believes it’s not the only unfamiliar aspect of their season, suggesting the club is lacking its traditional ‘special’ type of player.

He said: “I think Man Utd have a lot of good players, but they’re not good enough for Man Utd.

“They’ve thrown decent money at it, but there’s no special players at the moment and with Man Utd you always associate them with having one or two special players.

“They seem to be lacking a few characters and leaders.” Hear more from Keane on United’s situation in the video above.
