VIDEO: Ireland’s Shane Lowry sinks amazing hole-in-one on final day at The Masters

OFFALY native Shane Lowry may have failed to build on a promising opening round at The Masters, but he left Augusta ensuring his name would be etched in the record books with a delightful hole-in-one on the final day.

Lowry was third on the leaderboard after the first day, but he finished up 10 over par in a tie for 39th place, picking up a cheque for $43,000 for his efforts, while his hole-in-one will be rewarded with a special crystal bowl from Augusta National Golf Club.

The Irishman was one of three players to hit an ace on the final day of the tournament, along with Davis Love III and Louis Oosthuizen, with Lowry’s achievement coming first in what was the first hole-in-one on the 16th hole in four years.

Ironically, it was the 16th hole-in-one on the 16th hole in the history of The Masters, as Lowry sunk the 181-yard challenge in one after his eight-iron approach shot landed on the green before arcing perfectly towards the hole, sparking mass celebrations.
