Piers Morgan brands Meghan Markle a ‘whiny, hypocritical celeb who exploits victimhood to suppress free speech’

PIERS MORGAN has taken aim at Meghan Markle again, branding her a “whiny, privileged, hypocritical celebrity who exploits victimhood to suppress free speech”.

The outspoken journalist and presenter quit his role on Good Morning Britain after refusing to apologise for expressing doubt over the claims made by Markle and Prince Harry during their tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Eager to have his say on the saga, Morgan used his most recent column in the Mail on Sunday to describe the hours and days that followed the explosive interview and his GMB exit.

He also launched a staunch defence of his friend and former colleague Sharon Osbourne, following the news she had quit the US show The Talk after coming out in support of his comments.

Morgan wrote: "Sharon Osbourne's quit The Talk, driven out for the crime of defending me, a friend she knows isn't racist, from a co-worker saying I'm racist simply because I disbelieve Meghan Markle.

"It's outrageous, but what's happened to Sharon and me in the past fortnight isn't really about Ms Markle.

"She's just one of many whiny, privileged, hypocritical celebrities who now cynically exploit victimhood to suppress free speech, value their own version of the truth above the actual truth, and seek to cancel anyone that deviates from their woke world view or who dares to challenge the veracity of their inflammatory statements.

"No, it's about a far bigger issue than one delusional Duchess, and that's everyone's right to be free to express our honestly held opinions, forcefully and passionately if we feel like it."

Never one to let things lie, Morgan also revealed several of his former GMB colleagues had been in touch following his exit but that weather reporter Alex Beresford, who he famously quarrelled with live on air, had remain silent.

He signed off the piece with a message for his fans.

"To be clear: I'm not a victim and I haven't been cancelled,” he wrote.

"In fact, in many ways this has been one of the most exciting and affirmative periods of my life."

Though Piers Morgan was born in Surrey his late father, Vincent Eamonn O’Meara, was a dentist from Galway.

Christened Piers Stefan O’Meara, Morgan sadly lost his dad at a young age.

His mother later married Welsh publican Glynne Pughe-Morgan, with Piers going on to take his stepfather’s surname.
