Is this Ireland's worst road? Shocking video shows Irishman struggling to drive over hundreds of potholes

IRELAND isn’t exactly known for the quality of its roads – but this really takes the biscuit.

Adrian Reynolds from Killeigh, Co. Offaly shared a video on Facebook this week of a seriously rundown road outside his rural home.

The footage shows Adrian struggling to drive through the rundown roadway, which is covered with hundreds of potholes and water on both sides.

The Irishman wrote that he was “shocked” at how much the route had been allowed to crumble.

“In Ireland we drive on the left of the road, but here we drive on what’s left of it,” he posted.

“Offaly County Council – this can’t go on.”

Motorcheck Ireland recently described the number of potholes on Irish roads as an “epidemic”.

Earlier this week, Transport Minister Shane Ross announced a €417m investment programme for regional and local roads in 2018.

However, most of the funding will be spent on road maintenance with the remaining €50m leftover for improvements and repairs.
