A Whiskey company has created what look like 'Whiskey Tide Pods' and public reaction is confused to say the least

NOPE, WE checked and it's definitely not April Fool's Day.

Everyone has heard of the short-lived craze that apparently got teenagers eating laundry detergent Tide Pods.

And just when you thought modern society couldn't possibly get any more bizarre, some genius in a Scotch distillery decided to do away with ice and glasses and put their whiskey in a dissolvable pod instead.

The results seems to be along the lines of the candy Gushers-- but with whiskey.

Scotch company The Glenlivet unveiled their unconventional new product on Twitter and, excuse the pun, but it caused a bit of a stir online.

Most people were of the opinion that the pods were uneccessary-- just how much time are you saving by skipping the glass, ice and stirrer?

Others saw the new product as being an attack on Scotch in general.

And while some were excited at the prospect of an easy way to sneak alcohol into public places, others pointed out that Ziploc bags and a bit of DIY would have had the same effect.

The Glenlivet pods will make their debut at the upcoming London Cocktail Week 2019, and while initial opinion range from "this is weird" to "this is a terrible idea", we're sure there will be plenty of people eager to try the whiskey-filled Tide Pods.

If nothing else, the Glenlivet brand is getting plenty of exposure thanks to the bizarre invention.
