My £100k legal bill to fight false Birmingham Six cop conviction
A Limerick man wrongly imprisoned by the notorious police squad that jailed the Birmingham Six has spoken out about the "nightmare" legal bill he faces to seek justice.
"I fought for justice and for what? For nothing," Martin Foran told The Irish Post.
The disabled 69-year-old has learnt he cannot claim legal aid to sue the Home Office and the police, who deprived him of eight years of his life.
Luton's Irish mourn the loss of a humble philanthropist
The Irish in Luton have mourned the death of philanthropist Michael Connolly, remembering him as "a great community man".
Luton Irish Forum chair Frank Horan led the tributes for Mr Connolly, 82, a Mayo man who came to Britain in the 1950s to work as a labourer before starting his own building company.
Construction blacklist victim scorns redress
An Irishman who says lives were "ruined" by the secret blacklisting of construction workers has hit out at the firms offering redress to victims.
"I am not sure any compensation scheme could ever make up for what happened; the financial problems, the emotional problems and the family problems that happened to us," John Jones told The Irish Post.
Last week, eight construction companies apologised for their involvement with an organisation that kept the list - though the firms have not admitted liability.
