Police suspect thieves stole from a much-loved Irish publican as he lay dying on the street, an inquest has heard. Mick Doheny, landlord at Camden’s legendary World’s End pub, was found conscious with a “significant head injury” last November.
The inquest heard that the Kilkenny man was found to have a blood-alcohol level six times the legal limit and the pathologist gave the cause of death as acute toxic effects of alcohol with blunt force traumatic brain injury. Mr Doheny’s son, Seb, flew into London to contest the charge, arguing that “too much weight” was being placed on his father’s drinking.
‘Not one for us’- blacklist investigating committee
The Irish Post reveals that the Scottish Affairs Committee, which has been investigating the blacklisting of construction workers, may not investigate claims it has heard that police and security services colluded in the blacklisting of Irish workers.
The news has led shadow business secretary Chuka Umunna to tell The Irish Post that a government-led inquiry must be held to address the “greatly concerning” allegations.
