Irish 'Peaky Blinders' star lands major role in American TV series based on popular video game

IRISH ACTRESS Charlie Murphy has revealed she has landed a role in a major American TV production.

Known for her previous roles in popular shows on this side of the pond-- such as Love/Hate, Peaky Blinders and Rebellion-- Ms Murphy looks set to break into the American scene as she prepares to film the upcoming show Halo, based on the video game of the same name.

Ms Murphy, who is from Wexford, has clinched the role of one of the main characters in the series: she will play Makee, a human orphan who is raised by Covenant aliens and shares in their hatred for humanity.

The 29-year-old took to Instagram to announce the news, writing that she is "so so excited" to be part of the project.

The ten-part series is being produced by American TV network  'Showtime' and is based on an incredibly popular series of video games which first launched in 2001.

Should the show prove popular, it will be one of the only-- if not the only-- successful TV or film live-action adaption of a video game.

Halo fans have been waiting impatiently for this series since it was first announced way back in 2013-- but with the show not expected to air until 2021, there's quite a bit more waiting to come.
