IRISH Director John Gilhooly has been recognised as one of the most influential people in Britain by the Sunday Times.
The unmistakably Irish name appears on their list of the 500 most influential people in Britain.
Limerick born Gilhooly is the artistic director at London's iconic concert venue The Wigmore Hall.
He is in good company, this year's list includes The Duchess of Cambridge, Dame Carol Ann Duffy and London Mayor Boris Johnson.
The list recognises the exceptional people working in Britain today, acknowledging power, talent, hard work, brilliance and achievement. This year's list was published on Sunday, January 24.
Gilhooly has held his post at helm of The Wigmore hall since 2005, making him the youngest leader of any of the world's great concert halls, prior to this he had been the executive director since 2000.
Wigmore Hall, in London's West End has been described as the greatest chamber music venue in the world. Since 1901 it has hosted some of the finest solo and chamber musicians from across the globe. The hall hosts over 400 different events each year.
Alongside his work at Wigmore Hall, where he is credited for producing record box office returns, and achieving the hall's highest ever membership levels. Gilhooly also undertakes several charitable and voluntary positions. In July 2015 he was elected as the chairman for the Royal Philharmonic Society.
The UCD graduate is patron of the performing arts organisation Irish Heritage as well as a patron and active fundraiser for the Corpus Christi Church in Covent Garden, the national Catholic Church for performing arts.
Gilhooly will play a major role in co-coordinating the activities for this year's 1916 Rising Commemorations in London.
