THE PEOPLE of Cork have chosen their favourite song, and it's so very... Cork.
A competition launched by Cork City Libraries in December set out to find 'Cork's favourite song', and now after several months, thousands of votes, 84 nominated songs and a final 10-track shortlist, the winner has finally been revealed.
'After All' by The Frank and Walters claimed the top spot after the initial nominations were narrowed down by an independent jury, and if the name isn't ringing any bells, have a listen below and guaranteed you'll be singing along in no time.
To be in with the chance of being crowned 'Cork's favoruite song', all nominated tracks had to have a connection with the Rebel County, and while Frank and Walters is a Cork-based band, the connection doesn't end there.
Fans of the BBC/RTÉ 2 sitcom The Young Offenders will recognise the song from one of the show's most iconic moments-- namely, when Billy Murphy accidentally took a bus full of people hostage and forced them all to sing.
Whether or not the popular TV show played a part in the judge's final decision is unclear, but one thing we know for sure is that it's an absolute banger of a tune.
