Clodagh McKenna: 'The greatness in being Irish is in the strength of character'

With St Patrick’s Day around the corner, we ask Cork Celebrity chef and TV personality Clodagh McKenna what being Irish means to her...

“To me being Irish means a great sense of belonging no matter where I am in the world.

"Because we are an island nation, we have a unity and a culture which has survived through our expression in dance, music, storytelling, art, literature and food.

"I feel the greatness in being Irish is in the strength of character and the ability to carry on and smile, which I think probably stems from our faith and family values.

"But the most important thing about being Irish is freedom, the freedom to laugh and sing, the freedom to live in a free state with our own language and the freedom of expression...I am blessed to be Irish.”
