Blacklisting probe into alleged police collusion
Police collusion into the blacklisting of construction workers is being investigated by the Metropolitan Police Service under the supervision of the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
The investigation is expected to address allegations that police shared complex surveillance data about Irish workers with the Consulting Association – the company that ran the 3,200-person blacklist, in order to illegally bar them from Ministry of Defence projects.
Breaking with convention
The latest meeting of Ireland’s Constitutional Convention saw its members vote overwhelmingly in favour of changing the way women are characterised in the country’s Constitution as well as increasing female representation in politics.
They are now recommending that the Irish Government does more to encourage women to get involved in public life.
