10-year-old cyclist dies after being hit by a jeep in County Carlow

A TEN-YEAR-OLD boy has been killed in a traffic collision in County Carlow.

Gardaí are investigating all circumstances of a traffic accident which killed a ten-year-old cyclist in the Ballymartin area of Borris, County Carlow yesterday.

At approximately 1.30pm, the boy was cycling in the Ballymartin area when he collided with a jeep which was travelling on the road.

Emergency services were called and the severely injured boy was airlifted to Temple Street Children's University Hospital in Dublin, where his condition was described as critical.

Gardaí have confirmed today that the child has sadly passed away from his injuries.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward after a 10-year-old boy was killed in a collision involving a jeep. The child was cycling in the Ballymartin area of County Carlow yesterday, Thursday 25 June when the collision occured. He was airlifted to Temple Street Children's Hospital where he later passed away from his injuries.

Gardaí are now appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward, particularly any road users who were travelling in the area at the time and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) of the incident.
