A POD of dolphins were spotted jumping for joy off the coast of Achill Island over the weekend.
Dolphins are commonly found in the waters across the island of Ireland-- and though none are more famous than Fungie, the Dingle Dolphin, they are always a sight to behold.
Local community page What's on in Achill took to social media on Sunday to share a video of a pod of dolphins who were leaping joyously out of the ocean just off the coast of the famous Achill Island, home to one of the most popular beaches in the world.
A spokesperson for the Achill community page shared the spectacular video alongside the caption: "A couple of dolphins jumping several feet out of the water earlier today.
"So lucky to have them come inside our 5km limit."
The clip drew dozens of comments from people in awe at the sheer beauty of the animals and the height of their powerful jumps, with one person joking "Fungie on his holidays."
"Thanks so much for sharing," one woman, Georgina Smyth, wrote. "Just cannot wait to be able to get back to Achill."
Ireland is currently under strict measures to help slow the spread of Covid-19, including a 5km travel ban, but with so much of the country blessed with scenery like this right on our doorsteps, things could be a lot worse.
And when things return to normal, we'll be among the first to book a trip to the beautiful Achill Island.
