What Ryanair passengers need to know as airline enforces new cabin bag plan

ADDITIONAL carry-on bags will only be permitted for priority passengers, Ryanair has said, as the airline enforces their new cabin bag policy.

The Irish airline reminded passengers today that the new policy will come into effect in one month on January 15 2018.

Under the new plan, only priority boarding customers including plus, flexi plus and family plus, will be allowed to bring two carry-on bags on the aircraft.

Priority Boarding can be purchased for just €/£5 at the time of booking or added to a booking for €/£6 and is available up to one hour prior to scheduled departure.

All other customers will only be allowed to bring one smaller carry-on bag on board, while their second wheelie bag will be placed in the hold free of charge at the boarding gate.

Ryanair’s new bags policy already includes cuts to checked bag fees from €35 to €25 and an increase in the check-in bag allowance from 15kg to 20kg to encourage more customers to book check-in bags and reduce the volume of carry-on bags.

Ryanair’s Kenny Jacobs said: “We’re reminding our customers that from 15th January 2018, only Priority Boarding customers will be allowed to bring two carry-on bags on the aircraft.

"All other customers will be allowed to bring one smaller carry-on bag on board, while their second bigger wheelie bag will be placed in the hold free of charge at the boarding gate.

"This will speed up the boarding of flights and eliminate flight delays, alongside our new checked bag policy which offers our customers lower bag fees for a 33% increase in their checked bag allowance.”
