THE O'Connell bridge in Dublin was closed off by Gardaí this morning after a bus driver suffered a suspected heart attack while on duty.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and cordoned off the bridge's northbound lane following the "serious incident" shortly before 8am.

A Dublin Bus driver took ill while behind the wheel and received CPR treatment at the scene.
He was rushed to the Mater Hospital in Dublin 7 where his condition remains unknown.
In a statement, a Garda spokesperson said: "The bus driver suffered a heart attack and was given CPR at the scene, he was brought by ambulance to the Mater Hospital for treatment."

Dublin Bus confirmed the incident and said the bridge's northbound lane had since been cleared from South Quay to North Quay and reopened.
A spokesperson said: "Dublin Bus can confirm an incident took place on a Route 16 bus on O'Connell Bridge this morning. The driver was taken to hospital.
"This incident has been cleared and O'Connell Bridge was reopened to traffic at 08.30."
