IF you're a couch potato looking to put your roots down somewhere quiet, then this Airbnb offering is guaranteed to give you a rush of spud to the head.
Located in South Boise, Idaho in the northwestern United States, the giant potato – officially known as the Big Idaho Potato Hotel – is surrounded by 400 acres of quaint prairie farmland in starch contrast to busy city life.
The 28-foot long, 12-foot wide and 11.5-foot tall structure weighs in at around six tonnes but is actually made from a combination of steel, plaster and concrete.
It was originally designed and built by the Idaho Potato Commission in 2012 to promote one of the US state's most popular exports, and toured the country before being decommissioned last year.
But in a bid to give the giant spud a new lease of life, it is now available as a rental on Airbnb having been converted into a liveable space by local DIY enthusiast Kristie Wolfe.
The property comes with one queen-size bed, a small bathroom, kitchenette, fireplace, and air-conditioning – and it's fair to say the crisp interior is nothing short of spudtacular!
It costs $200 (€178/£155) a night, plus a $31 service fee and $16 in occupancy taxes and fees – bringing the total price of a one-night stay in your own private Idaho to around $247 (€220/£190).
