IF YOU'VE been tempted to visit Galway for a while but have been waiting for a sign... this is it.
With Galway holding the title of European City of Culture 2020, this year was always going to be a big one for the city-- and so all the awards the county has been winning lately is only an added bonus.
Having previously been announced as one of the top 10 places to visit in 2020 by Buzzfeed and CNN Travel, the best destination for 'foodies' by BBC Good Food Magazine, one of the best holiday destinations for 2020 by Conde Nast, and as one of the very best cities in the world by Lonely Planet, Galway just can't stop winning-- and now Ireland's cultural capital has been recognised again.
Irish budget airline Ryanair have released their list of 'Top 10 Most Trip-Worthy Destinations For 2020', and Gaillimh has been ranked in third place.
And before you start thinking that an Irish airline will be automatically biased towards an Irish city-- Galway is the only place in Ireland to get a mention on the list, because it is just that class.
Ponta Delgada in Portugal clinched the top spot in the list which Ryanair describes as the best destinations 'that have to be experienced in 2020, from new and emerging destinations to old favourites that everyone needs to visit at least once'.
Anyone who has been to Galway before will tell you that it's a magic spot-- and if you haven't had the pleasure of visiting yet, what are you waiting for? The airline have released a huge amount of extremely cheap tickets for locations across Europe; but you'll have to act fast, as the flash sale will end on Sunday!
