A FORMER professional Irish rugby player is set to break the world record for the 'highest altitude party on Earth' at the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania.
Max Rantz-McDonald, who has represented his country at a number of youth levels and at senior level for Ireland Sevens, will be part of a group of 40 aiming to put on a show at over 19,000ft when they set off on September 16 to reach the summit five days later.
At the summit of Kilimanjaro – the world’s highest free-standing mountain – the Irish adventurer will be joined by English DJ Nightmares on Wax in hosting the record-breaking event, with a little help from Danish speaker firm Soundboks and the charitable foundation Last Night a DJ Saved My Life (LNADJ).
As part of the project, Soundboks is donating around €10,000 to Featherstale – a home for children with special needs in Tanzania.
The current world record for the highest altitude party on Earth was set at Mount Everest’s base camp last year.
Max, who also runs a popular travel channel on YouTube, previously hosted a similar (yet way less extreme) mountaintop party in Cape Town, South Africa.
"I've dragged my Soundboks to some wild locations around the world and already partied on some pretty tall mountains," Max said.
"But Kilimanjaro in Africa is a whole other level.
"Together with the foundation Last Night a DJ Saved My Life we're determined to set a new world record for the highest altitude party on the planet."
