A DUBLIN-bound Flybe flight had to turn back to Southampton on Friday after a bee became lodged in one of the plane’s instruments.
Passengers on flight BE384 faced a two-hour delay after the journey was abandoned shortly after take-off.
The appropriately-named flight BE384 hit insect trouble just minutes into the flight.
A Flybe spokesperson said: "Flybe can confirm that flight BE384 travelling to Dublin returned from airborne to Southampton following a suspected technical issue.
"The aircraft landed without incident and all passengers disembarked as normal.
"Upon inspection, Flybe engineers did discover that the cause of the issue was a bee that had become lodged in an item of instrumentation on the outside of the aircraft.”
Passengers soon took to social media to share their experiences.
Noel Rooney tweeted "Well, that's not happened to me before. A bumble bee got stuck in the wind instrument thingie on #flyBe. Yep, that FlyBEE."
Another tweet said: “Fly bee or not fly bee. Now that is the question,” while “Bee in Flybe ointment — and instrument,” seems to sum up the story perfectly.
