SANDWELL Irish Society’s St. Patrick’s Day celebration will take place on Saturday, March 14 in West Bromwich – and another exciting day is planned.
The celebration, now in its 13th year, will be held at Central Sixth Sandwell College (formerly The Public) in New Street, West Bromwich B70 7PG.
The event starts at 10am and runs until 3pm.
The venue is right in the centre of the town, a short walk from the bus station and the Metro, and there is lots of disabled and other parking nearby.
"We have five hours of entertainment including traditional Irish, Gospel and other music, singing, dancing and poetry from individuals and groups of all ages and backgrounds, with performances from some of the most popular Irish dancers and musicians in the area," said event organiser Siobhán Gorman from the Sadnwell Irish Society.
"We will also have contributions from the Caribbean steel pans, the Indian Dhol drums and Chinese dancers wearing spectacular costumes. You can have your face painted, sport a mendhi shamrock on your hand, make a bracelet, create a bookmark or design a badge – all with an Irish theme!
She added: "Our Irish stilt walkers have some fun games for you to try and they will perform their amazing hula-hoop display to Irish music."
On the day there will also be a range of traditional Irish musical instruments so why not have a go at playing a bodhrán, banjo, tin whistle or accordion?
Or, if you fancy speaking or learning some Irish, there will be volunteers on hand for a friendly chat.
There will also be a number of Irish foods available on the day.
So why not join in the fun in Sandwell for what promises to be a great day - you'll be assured of a warm Irish welcome!
