Boxing legend Barry McGuigan leads St Patrick's Day parade in London

GRAND Marshal Barry McGuigan lead more than 70 groups and organisations through the streets of Central London today.

Huge crowds gathered as the parade commenced at Green Park, close to Hyde Park Corner and went through Piccadilly Circus, along Haymarket via Trafalgar Square before ending at Whitehall.

Boxing legend McGuigan was thrilled to be involved in the St Patrick's festivities in London. "Being Grand Marshal of the St Patrick's Parade in the greatest city in the world, I'm very proud of that," McGuigan told The Irish Post.

"It's fantastic to see how far we've moved on.  The relationship between the British and the Irish has never been better."

Clones native McGuigan, who won the WBA Featherweight title in 1985 in Loftus Road, lives in Kent.

CEO of Cyclone Promotions McGuigan is manager of IBF World super bantamweight champion Carl Frampton, who is also trained by his son Shane McGuigan.
