Young boxing fan offers up incredibly kind gesture to Michael Conlan after his early exit from Rio Olympics

A YOUNG boy from Belfast made a very sweet gesture to his hero after Michael Conlan's early exit from Rio Olympic games.

Five-year-old Finn, with the help of his sister, wrote a letter to Conlan offering him the medal he had won in school, in the wake of Conlan's bruising defeat.

The boxer was controversially beaten in the Olympic quarter final by Vladimir Nikitin, despite Conlan's dominant performance.

Here's what Finn wrote:

Hi Michael,

My name is Finn Mc Manus and I am five years old.

I saw your fight in Rio and you should have won because you are the best boxer in the world.

I want you to have my school medal because you are a winner. I hope you like it.
