'How do ya like those apples, Eddie?' – best reactions as Ireland win Grand Slam on St Patrick's Day

IRELAND made it a St Patrick’s Day to remember by securing the Six Nations Grand Slam against England at Twickenham.

It was a comfortable 24-15 win for Ireland in England’s backyard to secure only their third Grand Slam.

England scored just three unconverted tries in front of their own fans, the last from Jonny May no more than a consolation with the clock in the red.

The victory was all the more special, coming as it did on the feast day of Ireland’s patron saint.

While celebrations will no doubt continue long into the night in London, Ireland and around the world, we’ve rounded up the best reaction to the historic win on social media…

Champions!

England were magnanimous in defeat

Even the British Army tipped their hats to Ireland

Of course, Ireland have been flying high the whole tournament

Presidential praise

Saluting the champions

Eddie Jones’ words came back to haunt him

Boxer Carl Frampton didn’t pull his punches

The English manager came in for a lot of stick

He was even getting burned by the weatherman

Meanwhile tensions were running high in the Kielty household

What a day to do it though

No Will, it doesn’t

Cheers Jamie

Here’s someone who has seen all three Grand Slams

The homecoming will be some party…

Happy St Patrick's Day everyone!
