Will Ferrell and Roy Keane met on Sunday ahead of the Manchester City and Aston Villa game on Sunday

A-LIST ACTOR Will Ferrell and former Manchester United and Ireland captain Roy Keane struck up an unlikely friendship before the Manchester City and Aston Villa game on Sunday.

Ferrell one of the world's most well-known faces in Hollywood was in attendance at the Etihad and had time to come down onto the pitch before the game.

Gary Neville, Keane, Kelly Cates, and Micah Richards were working for Sky when the actor came down to say hello to the gang.

Many people didn't expect Keane and Ferrell to know who each other were, but that wasn't the case. The pair played together for Rest of the World during Soccer Aid in 2012.

Keane and the 55-year-old shared a warm hug and reminisced over old times.

Roy and I had the pleasure of playing at Soccer Aid… was that 2010, maybe?" said Ferrell

Keane responded by saying, “Was it? I can’t remember. I can’t remember last week. Are you still training and playing?”

WF: “I’ll run around a little bit, kick the ball, try not to pull my hammy.”

That's it," added Keane

The clip shared on Twitter by Sky Sports received huge traction

"This could be the funniest future interview ever. Keano just knows everyone, he’s a National Treasure," said one Twitter user

While another said, "Step Brothers 2 starring Will Ferrell & Roy Keane."

Ferrell has been MLS LAFC's owner since 2016. Adding on what the American was doing in Manchester Ferrell said, " "I'm on a recruiting trip for LAFC, of course, just seeing if any players at [Man City] measure up to the MLS.

"This is a trip we had planned a couple of years ago and it got delayed through covid so it's a collection of old friends and we're seeing four games in six days and having a great time."

Hopefully he enjoyed his time on Sunday. Manchester City beat Aston Villa 3-1 on the day.
