Wexford hurler Matthew O’Hanlon has announced his retirement from inter-county hurling.
The St. James' clubman first lined out for his native county in 2011 and has played 140 competitive games for Wexford at senior level.
The 33-year-old captained Wexford from 2014, swapping the armband with another Wexford star, Lee Chin, during his career.
One of the high points of O’Hanlon’s career was winning the Leinster title in 2019. O’Hanlon was also a nominee for All-Star awards in hurling in 2016, 2017, and 2019.
His talents didn’t just lie in hurling; he was also a talented footballer for Wexford, winning a Leinster U21 title in 2011.
Announcing his retirement, O’Hanlon expressed his delight at representing his native county at the highest level in hurling.
