Watch: US Grand National hero Hewick enter a pub and ask for a Guinness with trainer Shark Hanlon in Wicklow

A CLIP HAS EMERGED ONLINE of US Grand National hero Hewick entering a pub with horse trainer John (Shark) Hanlon in Wicklow.

The age old joke of 'a horse walks into a bar' became a reality when the pair entered through the door of The Pint Depot in County Carlow on Monday.

The pair won a whopping £111,000 at the American Grand National in Far Hills, New Jersey in October.

Now a video has surfaced online of the pair entering the pub, where Hanlon asks staff behind the bar for a pint of Guinness for Hewick.

"Can I get a pint of Guinness now," he says.

The video posted on @jhanlonracing's official account titled 'a horse walks into a bar' has received over 377k views on Twitter.

Another clip appeared online of the horse getting stuck into a pint of Guinness.

Many people reacted to the clips online with different takes.

One user said: "This is unbelievable and the reaction its getting is exactly what's wrong with the world these days people just looking to be offended by something."

"The part that gets me about this is that half of the patrons have zero reaction, like this is totally normal and happens all the time," said another

While some didn't see the funny side in bringing an animal into a pub with patrons.

"Hey good people of Ireland (those who love animals). Can you ring  @ISPCA1 tomorrow and complain this idiot. I have screenshots in case he blocks you. Totally unnecessary, total disregard for the horse and no it’s not funny," said one Twitter user.

The seven-year-old horse was bought in 2017 for €850 and has already paid back the small fee paid for him with his wins

The horse has become a national hero in Ireland. His wins in the bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown in April, the Galway Plate in July and the win in the States have meant his yearly prize-money is now close to £250,000.

Hewick has already received quotes of 25-1 for the Cheltenham Gold Cup in March. He is also a 25-1 shot for next year's Grand National at Aintree.
