Watch this brilliant Tadhg Furlong interview, where he talks about his life and beating New Zealand last summer.

LEINSTER'S star prop Tadhg Furlong has said it will be great to look back on Ireland's historic win over New Zealand in the summer when he finishes his career.

The front rower was speaking to media personality Christina Mahon on an episode of the rugby series the 'Open Side' about his life growing up in Wexford, playing Gaelic Football and Hurling, moving to Dublin as a youngster and he even opened up about his time with Ireland during their win against New Zealand this year.

Ireland had never won a test series in New Zealand before last July, but under Andy Farrell Ireland managed to win the series 2-1.

Furlong who has become one the best rugby forwards in the world was asked if it sank in straight away

"I dunno. It probably dawns on you straight away, I suppose," said the Leinster prop in the interview

I know it's great. I wouldn't be the over sentimental type myself, but it's great I think to look back when you finish your career.

I suppose you only do history once. Like it was it great to say 'it was us, it was us', it was our team, we were a part of that and it's something no one can take away from us (Ireland)."

The rest of the interview is brilliant content, where the Wexford native goes into detail about not knowing how to boil a bag of rice after moving to Dublin, playing Crash Bandicoot as a kid, and winding people up with ridicluous stories during his playing career.

This weekend Furlong is said to be close to full fitness for Friday’s clash with Gloucester in the Champions Cup.

Leo Cullen confirmed this week that he and Johnny Sexton are back on the grass after their recent injury setbacks.

Furlong picked up an ankle issue in the URC win over Ulster two weekends ago.

“They were both due to run over the past couple of days, so we will see how they went,” said Cullen of Sexton and Furlong after the Ulster game.

“They are not a million miles away.”

Leinster's Heineken Champions Cup game in the RDS Arena against Gloucester Rugby Kicks-off on Friday at 8pm. It's live on RTÉ TV and radio.
