Watch: Irish priest plays Liverpool anthem 'You'll Never Walk Alone' during mass whilst telling Man United fans to 'suck it up'

AN IRISH PRIEST decided to celebrate Liverpool's recent Premier League title victory in style by blaring their anthem You'll Never Walk Alone during mass.

He took the opportunity to really rub it in the noses of any rival fans who were tuning in to the virtual service, telling them to "suck it up".

Kilkenny-based priest Fr Tobin played the song at the end of his service in Mooncoin, to celebrate the Reds ending an agonising 30-year wait for a league title last week.

He said: "These times have not been ordinary, they have been extraordinary, but you have been also extraordinarily good, and for that I thank you.

"And for all the people from Liverpool or who support Liverpool, we’re going to have our final hymn for you this morning, and let the Man Uniteds and the Man Citys and the Chelseas and all the rest of them - suck this up."

Football and religion are often spoken about in the same breath, particularly when talking to fans, who claim that following their club is like following God, but this is taking things to a whole new level.

Reaction to the stunt was generally positive, with one social media user commenting: "Not a football fan… but that was fantastic."

Another said: "While hilarious, this is the most typically Liverpool thing ever. They just can't help but be irritating can they?"
