A SENSATIONAL goal scored in a League of Ireland match is currently favourite to win the FIFA Puskas Award.
The prize is given to the greatest goal scored at all levels of football around the world over a calendar year.
Dundalk's Jordan Flores produced an absolute beauty against Shamrock Rovers back in February, with clips of the strike going viral mere minutes after his strike rippled the net.
Fans watched in awe as Flores caught a floating corner directly on the volley, with his left boot seemingly rising shoulder-height, to send the ball whistling into the far corner.
Simply unstoppable, and a skill few footballers on the planet could replicate.
Congratulations to Jordan Flores of @Dundalkfc, nominated for the @FIFAcom Puskas Award 2020. It gets our vote. #TheBest #Puskashttps://t.co/FPk7YoEwSD pic.twitter.com/8H2PdvM8au

The goal has been nominated for the Puskas award alongside strikes from Tottenham Hotspur's Son Heung Min and Atletico Madrid's Luis Suarez (whose goal for Barcelona has been nominated).
Previous winners of the award include Cristiano Ronaldo, Mohamed Salah and Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Irish fans may remember Stephanie Roche making the top three in 2014 before finishing runner-up to James Rodríguez's famous goal during the World Cup.
The winner of the 2020 Puskas Award will be announced at The Best FIFA Football Awards on December 17.
