TWENTY years ago today, Mick McCarthy took charge of the Republic of Ireland for the first time, and it didn't quite go to plan.
With a missed penalty, a red card, a disallowed goal and, ultimately, a 2-0 friendly defeat to a skilful Russia side, it's fair to say 'Big Mick' didn't get off to a great start.
It was March 27, 1996, but little did we know that this early set-back was the beginning of a memorable rollercoaster ride for McCarthy and his talented crop of players.
Can you remember who got sent off or who missed the penalty? Have a look back at the highlights below.
