UEFA has given thanks to the Football Association of Ireland for hosting the Europa League final without any hiccups.
The final between Italian side Atalanta and German side Bayer Leverkusen was hosted at the Aviva Stadium. Atalanta won 3-0 against the German champions in a game that was all about football.
UEFA released a statement this week, sending their gratitude to both teams and the FAI for hosting the event. The football club competition outfit also claimed there wasn't a single incident recorded.
"UEFA would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Atalanta BC, Bayer 04 Leverkusen, and all the fans who participated in last night's UEFA Europa League final in Dublin.
"Your passion and enthusiasm created a brilliant atmosphere, making the event truly unforgettable. Special thanks go to the Football Association of Ireland, local authorities, and all the services participating in the match organisation.
"Your hard work and dedication were instrumental in making everybody feel safe and welcome. We are also pleased to confirm that match officials noted no single incident throughout the event, which is a testament to the sportsmanship and respect shown by all attendees."
🇮🇪 THANK YOU, DUBLIN!
To @Atalanta_BC, @bayer04fussball, @FAIreland, both sets of fans and everybody involved in Wednesday's #UELfinal, thank you!

Social media users have also had their say: "What an occasion! @UEFA, we appreciate the trust placed in us to host. Well done to all local stakeholders involved in showcasing Dublin and Ireland so impressively on the world’s stage, and of course to the teams for a great game. Congratulations to @Atalanta_BC! "
In the past, UEFA has been slammed for the organisation of events. The 2022 Champions League final between Liverpool and Madrid, held in Paris, became the centre of controversy when fans of both sides were attacked by police. There were incidents of robberies and overcapacity issues getting into the ground as well.
UEFA also claimed in the same statement that they planned to host the best experience for fans going forward.
"UEFA remains committed to providing the best possible experience for football fans, and your unwavering support plays a crucial role in achieving that goal. Thank you for making the 2024 UEFA Europa League final a resounding success."
