WITH great sadness it has been announced that Warwickshire GAA’s John McCaul has passed away after an illness.
A native of county Monaghan, John was at the heart of the GAA in Warwickshire, known and loved by all in manning the gate at Páirc na hÉireann for so many years.
During his time with the Warwickshire GAA County Board John served as both Vice Chairman and Assistant Treasurer over the years and was a proud member of the John Mitchels club in Birmingham.
Tributes have been pouring in from across the GAA community over the weekend, with the County Board summing up the sentiments.
“He was a very humble and hardworking man and a great Gael and will be sorely missed in Páirc na hÉireann,” they stated.
They added: “Our deepest sympathies go out to his wife Dolly, children Siobhan and John and all his family and friends at this difficult time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.”
A true gentleman and a friend to us all, John will be sorely missed.
