Tony McCoy just two short of landmark 4000th win

TONY MCCOY is poised to gallop post an extraordinary landmark after a double at Kempton took him to 3,998 career victories, two short of an unprecedented 4,000.

And has history would have it, McCoy’s magic moment could come today at Exeter, the track where he rode his first British winner more than 19 years ago.

The 18-time champion jockey is will ride in three races this afternoon with Jonjo O’Neill’s Flemenson likely to prove his best chance in the day’s opener (1.50pm).

The 39-year-old jockey also rides novice hurdler Keen Eye (2.2opm) and Well Hello There in a handicap hurdle (3.50pm).

Bookies have made him a 4/1 shot to reach the milestone today.

The Co Antrim native is the only jump jockey to ride more than 3,000 winners,

Richard Johnoson is the next best in the all-time standings with more than 2,500.
