KILKENNY hurling legend Tommy Walsh has questioned the need for the hurling review committee chaired by former Tipperary manager Liam Sheedy.
“Why fix something that isn’t broke?” says Walsh. “At the moment, I would alter nothing about the game. Why should we? We have just had the greatest Championship – everyone has been saying – and had a tremendous League yet again.
“If people were not going to our games, if people were not enjoying looking at the television, if there was a reason for change then we should. But there is no reason. People are glued to the television. The stadiums are getting great crowds. Why tinker for the sake of it?”
Sheedy is joined on the committee by Michael Duignan, Ollie Moran, Ollie Canning, Paul Flynn, Pat Henderson, Pat Cullinane, Terence McNaughton and Veronica Curtin.
Last month, Sheedy said: “I think everyone would agree this game is far from needing a complete overhaul. It’s in a very good place.
“It won’t be my views but the views of everyone and the committee. There’s been a really good committee selected with people that have played the game at the highest level and have had a massive involvement in various administration roles.
