Tipperary legend's jersey sells for £3,000 at London auction

TIPPERARY hurling legend Eoin Kelly’s last All-Ireland jersey has fetched £3,000 at a London auction.

The number 21 shirt – worn by Kelly during the 2014 All-Ireland Hurling Final Replay – was bought by London-based Drangan man Johnny Whyte.

The auction was part of Team Tipperary’s Corporate Lunch Fundraiser at London’s Intercontinental Hotel on Friday, May 29.

Over 300 diners enjoyed the afternoon’s events that included an entertaining Question and Answer forum, conducted by Today FM broadcaster Paul Collins, and the auction.

Kelly was one of the special guests who attended the event, alongside Tipperary’s only All-Star footballer, Declan Browne, and the county’s 2001 All-Ireland medal winner, Eamon Corcoran.

There were over 20 attendees who travelled from Tipperary for the occasion, including GAA officers Michael Bourke (Chairman), Tim Floyd (Secretary), Eamon Buckley (Treasurer) and Central Council Delegate and former Chairman Sean Nugent.
