THE IRISH POST is to once again become the official media partner for the GAA All Britain Competition (ABC), which will take place at Tír Chonaill GAA Club in Greenford, North West London from July 26-28.
The three-day event, which is sponsored by O’Neills sportswear, will see hundreds of children take part in the second year of the competition, which will feature a host of additional cultural and family-orientated events.
Full coverage of the weekend will feature in the Irish Post in print and online as the paper strengthens its relationship with Britain’s GAA community and reinforces its position as the paper at the heart of the Irish community in Britain.
Ronan Early, sports editor of The Irish Post said: “The Irish Post is by far the best paper in Britain for GAA and the ABC is by far the biggest tournament for kids here. It makes sense for us to work with the GAA to ensure that this huge celebration of Gaelic games is given the platform it deserves. ”
Gary Kelly, secretary & senior games development manager for British GAA said: “This year’s All Britain Competition is building up to be a great festival of Gaelic Games, with upwards of 100 teams set to descend on Greenford for the weekend.
“Boys and girls, from five and six years of age, right up to 18, from all across the island, will be taking part and it promises to be a magnificent spectacle. We're delighted that both O'Neills and The Irish Post have come on board again for 2013 and with their help and backing, added to the strong commitment of our volunteers Gaels from across Britain, it's onwards and upwards for the ABCs.”
Susie Robinson, UK Sales Manager of O’Neills said: “O’Neills is once again delighted to be supporting the O’Neills ABC Tournament in July 2013 alongside the Irish Post – sadly the weather was against us all last year which resulted in a reduction in the tournament time so we are really looking forward to the three day event this year and meeting the various clubs from across Europe.”
