The coming weeks will give Irish athletes at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games a chance to showcase their elite skills and also allow each Irish entry a chance to win a medal for their country.
The Irish have performed admirably at previous Olympic Games in relation to population size and resources available. Since the inception of the first Games in 1924, the country has won 36 medals: 11 gold, 10 silver, and 15 bronze.
In terms of sports, Ireland has won the most medals in boxing compared to other sports like sailing and athletics, with a total of 18 boxing medals.
The likes of Rhasidat Adeleke (athletics), Rhys McClenaghan (gymnastics), and Kellie Harrington (boxing) are just some of the names that will be looking to win medals for Ireland in the coming weeks.
