TG4 say August's Aer Lingus College Football Classic will be free to view on TV

TG4 has announced that the Aer Lingus College Football Classic will be free to watch on Irish television next month.

The game between Georgia Tech and Florida State University at the Aviva Stadium will take place on Saturday, August 24.

The game is the opening fixture for the US college football season and also an Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) game. It is the third consecutive game to be held in Ireland and the eighth overall.

Georgia Tech's last visit to Ireland was in 2016 when they defeated Boston College, while it will be Florida State's first game abroad.

Over 24,000 people from America are expected to travel to the Irish capital for the game. According to Fáilte Ireland and accounting firm Grant Thornton, this will bring an estimated €100 million to the Irish state and economy.

Speaking about the announcement this week, Rónán Ó Coisdealbha, TG4 Head of Sport, said, "TG4 is pleased to be bringing the Aer Lingus College Football Classic to a free-to-air live television audience in Ireland. This is one of the major sporting events being held in Ireland this year, and we look forward to welcoming both Georgia Tech and Florida State University to Ireland for the 2024 game."

Brendan Meehan, Commercial Director of the ALCFC, added, "We are delighted that this year's Aer Lingus College Football Classic will be shown free to air on TG4. It provides a wonderful opportunity to showcase the pageantry, color, and excitement of the event to the domestic audience while helping to grow the game of American football in Ireland."

The game will kick off at 5 p.m. on August 24.

Tickets can be found on Ticketmaster.
