Taylor 'confident' of second win over Serrano this week

Katie Taylor believes she is confident that she will get the better of Amanda Serrano in Texas this week. The Bray native and the Puerto Rican clash for the first time since their 2022 Madison Square Garden bout.

Taylor came out on top by split decision in the first fight, and the bout received universal acclaim, being named Fight of the Year by Sports Illustrated and Event of the Year by The Ring.

Both are now named on the undercard of Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul at AT&T Stadium for the second fight.

The 38-year-old Taylor, nearing the end of her career, believes that the result will go in her favour again.

"The result is going to be the same. I'm very, very confident," said Taylor on Monday to RTÉ Sport.

"We're both stepping into the ring very confident, I'm sure."

"I believe I'm just a better fighter, and the best of me always beats the best of Amanda."

Both Taylor and Serrano are trailblazers in the sport, and Taylor has paid homage to her foe for being part of history in 2022.

"I'm just so glad that I made history with Amanda because I feel like nobody has done what she's done in women's boxing," she said.

"A seven-weight world champion, that's just unprecedented. I don't think any other female fighter will accomplish what she's accomplished."

Serrano echoed the sentiments of the Irish boxing legend and added that both fighters are going to put on a show for the public this Saturday.

"I'm going in there extra confident for this fight because I thought I needed just a little more to get the victory in the first fight, but it's great to have a great dance partner like Katie Taylor."

"We're going to go out there and show the world that women can fight, put on a show, and it's going to be a great night. I think the fans are definitely the winners in this fight."
