Shamrock Rovers boss Stephen Bradley has claimed that glamour friendlies played in the Aviva Stadium should not get priority over League of Ireland games.
This comes after Manchester United played a pre-season friendly with a Spanish club at the Lansdowne Road venue in a 52,000 sell-out last Sunday.
The decision to play the fixture was hit with lots of backlash from fans of the League of Ireland, who felt that the league should get more coverage.
LOI champions Rovers played Cork in Tallaght Stadium on the same day, but the attendance at the game was a record low for the season.
Bradley has expressed his disappointment with the fixture clash scheduling and feels that The Aviva Stadium should not be a venue used when domestic games take place.
Bradley said on the club's website: “I don’t agree with them, I don’t think they should be allowed when there are domestic games on.
"I understand our games get moved because of Europe and these friendlies are set in stone a few months out and logistically it’s tough.
"But, as a rule going forward, I don’t think they should be allowed.
"We all know how important gate receipts are to every club in the country.
"Ours have been brilliant, our fans have been brilliant and it’s the August bank holiday, I get all that, but I don’t think there should be other games on when we’ve got domestic games.”
