Sky Sports names Canavan, Wyse and O'Connor in GAA line-up

SKY Sports has revealed its line-up for its debut season of Gaelic football and hurling championship coverage.

Rachel Wyse of Sky Sports News will front the television broadcast with former Ireland rugby international Brian Carney, who presents Sky Sports’ rugby league coverage.

In hurling, Jamsie O’Connor has been announced as the lead hurling analyst and will be joined by co-commentator Nicky English, both of whom are former hurlers of the year and Munster and All-Ireland winners.

Tyrone legend Peter Canavan is the lead analyst in football and he will be joined by commentator and 1985 All Star Paul Earley.

Dave McIntyre and Mike Finnerty have been confirmed as the commentators for both sports.

The new faces were revealed at a press conference in Croke Park this morning.

“I can't wait for our coverage of this year’s Gaelic football championships to get underway,” said Canavan.

“The resources at our disposal to analyse the games are second to none and I’m really looking forward to working with the team and bringing GAA supporters such a high level of insight.”

In March the GAA announced it had signed a deal with Sky Sports which will screen 20 live football and hurling matches this summer.

Sky Sports recently revealed the four games they will broadcast in June, beginning with a tie between Kilkenny and Offaly in the Leinster SHC on June 7.

On June 14 the match between Dublin and Wexford/Qualifier in the Leinster SHC will be televised, followed by Sligo against Galway/London in the Connacht SFC on June 21 and the Ulster semi-final between Armagh/Cavan and Down/Tyrone/Monaghan on June 28.
