SHANE LOWRY has admitted that he is confident ahead of the opening day of The Masters this week.
An Irish golfer has never won the famous event in Augusta, and last year's leaderboard was the closest any Irish golfer came to achieving that feat.
American Scottie Scheffler won the famous green jacket ahead of the likes of Rory McIlroy, while Lowry finished the famous event tied for third with Australian Cameron Smith.
The famous golf event returns this week with Lowry claiming he is preparing in the best way he can for the world-famous golf event.
"I've not been getting the results that I want. But I'm not that far away," he told reporters on Monday. "Last season, I made a big thing about getting ready for the Masters. I've done the same this year. I wanted to prepare for this as best I can, and I feel I've done that.

"I do feel good, I feel a lot of confidence. It's all about getting out there Thursday and getting off to a decent start. If you shoot a good score on Thursday, you feel like you're right in the tournament, and it's an exciting week after that."
“I do feel like my game is in a decent spot. It can click at any stage," he added.
“The important thing is not to try and make it click. If you try too hard to make it click, then that’s when you put too much pressure on yourself.
"It is all about waiting for it to happen for me. I feel like I am doing the right things. I feel like I have worked very hard each year trying to get things right and just trying to be patient now."
The tee times for the opening round on Thursday will be released at lunchtime today.
