Matthew Macklin returned to the ring with an emphatic second-round victory over Sandor Micsko at the Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham.
The former world title challenger stopped Hungarian-based Miscsko with a powerful body shot inside two rounds of a scheduled eight-round bout.
Birmingham-born Macklin improved his record to 32-6-0 against the late replacement for Hungarian Ferenc Albert, who injured his hand in sparring during the week.
The ‘Tipperary Tornado’ as he’s known returned to fight in Birmingham for the first time in five years, as he looks ahead to a possible title fight against Andy Lee or Daniel Jacobs.
Macklin said: “I never lost the desire and my dream of becoming a world champion is still there. I will be working hard from now on to bring that about… hopefully in Birmingham.”
Meanwhile, Enfield boxer and the Paschal and Steve Collins trained Frank Buglioni retained his WBO European Super Middleweight belt in a tough encounter against Essex man Lee Markham at Wembley Arena with the fight ending in a draw.
