Seamus Coleman has said that Sean Dyche has given the Everton squad increased confidence that they can escape the Premier League drop

IRELAND AND EVERTON'S SEAMUS COLEMAN has said that Sean Dyche has given the Everton squad increased belief that they can get out of the relegation zone for a second time.

Everton played Leeds United in a relegation six-pointer on Saturday, and it was the Toffees that came on top 1-0, thanks to Coleman's wonder strike.

At 34-year's- old Coleman's playing time at Everton seems to be decreasing, but his influence in the dressing room doesn't seem to be waning.

Speaking about the fight to stay up, the Donegal native was praised by Sean Dyche for his work at the club

Dyche also was asked about his players contribution to the team on Saturday and commended his professinalism at the club

"I don't need to say too much about Seamus. He knows the great professional he is. I know he has had a lot of managers and I think you will find virtually every one has either played him or said what a great pro he is, so I don't think there is any worry there."

On the fight to stay up Coleman said on Saturday, “Unfortunately, having been through it before, it does feel different this time."

“Maybe last year you were carrying it so much on your shoulders and you’re thinking ‘Oh my God, this club can’t be where it is ’.

“But this year you realise that we’ve been here before, we know what it takes, we know that we’ve got to stick together — that’s the most important — and the manager’s played a big part in that in the last couple of weeks.

“The manager (Dyche) has come in, he’s got experience, he’s tough, he’s confident in himself.”

Coleman's last goal came a year ago and this weekend's winner was one to savour for the Republic of Ireland captain

A wayward 64th-minute cross from out wide embarrassed goalkeeper Illan Meslier at his near post.

“I knew that maybe the keeper would have anticipated a cross. I could’ve hit it another 30 times and never hit it as sweet but thankfully I did,” added the Everton fullback

“It was important. That felt big. This means so much to the people of the Everton side of Liverpool and we’re living and breathing it every day.

“There’s no getting away from it — it’s hard. That’s only three points for us and it’s been an extremely tough couple of years but I’m a fighter, have always been a fighter and (in the dressing room) we’ve got fighters in there.

Everton's next game will be against Aston Villa on Saturday.

That game kicks-off at 15.00.
