Round-up: Walkovers galore in junior London GAA competitions

THE McArdle Cup saw its fair share of postponements over the weekend as the London GAA junior season hit a few snags.

Crawley and Brighton Gaels gave Tara a walkover, while Eire Og vs Thomas McCurtains was the only game to go ahead in group one, with the latter winning comfortably to the tune of a 2-11 to 0-10 score line.

In Group 2, Dulwich Harps conceded their game against Tir Chonail Gaels, meaning the only action from that group was between St Clarets and Friar Murphys.

The Clarets were in control of the game from start to finish and ran out 0-12 to 0-04 winners.

In the Murphy Cup, meanwhile, there was only one game played due to the rest of the cup fixtures being conceded by teams.

In Group 1 of the cup, St Brendan’s conceded their game against Neasden Gaels while in Group 2 the second walkover was given by Heston Gaels as they conceded their game with St Josephs.

The only surviving game from this round of matches was Moindearg vs Harlesden Harps. It was a one sided affair as Harlesden recorded a very comfortable 2-10 to 0-2 win over Moindearg at Wormwood Scrubs.

There was also action in the Tipperary Cup over the weekend, but Garryowen conceded their game against St Kiernans in Group 1.

The only surviving game was Round Towers v Fulham Irish in Group 2. Both teams played out a closely fought game at Wormwood Scrubs on Saturday afternoon, but neither side could get a winner as the game finished 1-8 to 0-11.
