RORY MCLLROY and JT Poston sit joint-top of the leader board at the Travelers Championship in Connecticut shot an eight-under 62 after the opening round on Thursday.
Mcllroy came into the latest tournament after winning the Canadian Open and finishing fifth at the US Open in Brookline.
The Holywood native continued this rich vein of form with a bogey-free round at TPC River Highlands.

Mcllroy would land two more birdies and would further follow that up with four more in seven holes.
The highlight was 48-footer on the seventh to take the co-lead
On the final hole the par-four 18th hit a 332-yard drive to leave him within 44 yards to the pin. He chipped up for tap-in birdie to end the day on eight under for the day with American Poston
Mcllroy, one of LIV Golf's biggest critics denied that his recent run of form had added motivation to him and added that he wasn't trying to prove anything to anything.
“I just think it so happens that the most protective of the PGA Tour are the best players in the world right now,” McIlroy claimed after his round.
“I’m not going out to try to prove anything to anyone. I’m in a good run of form. I’m playing well.”
“Whether that gives me a little more confidence to speak up on certain issues, maybe,” he added. “But I’m just going out there trying to play my game and trying to win some more tournaments.”
Mcllroy gets his second round going at 1.00pm (18:00 BST)
