TEAM IRELAND's Thomas Barr has finished fourth in the men's 400m final in Rio after missing out on a medal by an agonising five hundredths of a second.
The Waterford native ran yet another Irish record having beaten his own time in the semi-finals, this time going sub-48 on a time of 47.97.
USA took gold through Kerron Clement, with Boniface Mucheru Tumuti (Kenya) finishing second while Yasmani Copello (Turkey) finished just ahead of the Irishman in the medal positions.
